This morning we have been able to pin down Ellie from Forgotten Cuts to have a chat! If you haven’t tasted food from Forgotten Cuts – where have you been? You can come and gorge yourself on sumptuous food by Ellie at our Boozy Xmas Market on the 10th December at Exeter Street Hall.
Q. Well hello there! First thing’s first… who are you and what do you do?
Hi there! I am Ellie from Forgotten cuts. I am a chef with some mean knife skills…. I source local ethically reared grass fed and organic great tasting animals and make them taste even more delicious!
Q. And how did you get into this business?
I’ve always been a chef but as a mother, I needed a way out of the commercial kitchen and the freedom of street food, pop ups and festivals were calling……
Q. What do you enjoy most about being the boss at your business?
I cook in my home, at my leisure and can work with my son and friends around. It’s hugely social and I choose my own work.
Q. We are incredibly happy that you will be at our Boozy Xmas Market. Are you planning anything special for the day?.
Why thank you! I am incredibly happy to be there! we shall definately be serving some cheeky little pigs in blankets and there will be some extra Christmasy love on our menu…. not to mention the outfits……..
Q. What’s your biggest selling product?
Our biggest selling dish is our signature dish which is our slow roasted lamb breast cooked with anchovies, garlic & rosemary. we don’t dare take that off! But we have recently started doing a vegan dish which is Chermoula pumpkin, that’s flying out!
Q. How many markets and events would you estimate you attend in a year? What, in your opinion, makes an enjoyable market for both seller and buyer?
We trade at two markets a week and then around 8 festivals in the summer….. private parties vary.
As a seller, we are of hoping for a cheap entrance fee so people feel happy to spend some money and don’t feel ripped off.
Flat ground! ha!
Entertainment for all ages is hugely helpful!
Variety but not too much choice for the buyer.
A well dressed event that looks beautiful is a huge winner for me!
Now some fun stuff
Q. Guilty pleasure song: GO!
Reo speedwagon – Can’t fight this feeling…….. like omg i know
Q. Do you have a TV show you’re currently addicted to? (Not a Goggle-boxer? How about a favourite book right now?)
Any Scandi noir
Book …. The Circle by Dave Eggers Dark real times………..
Q. Which would you rather be: a Care Bear or a unicorn?!
Unicorn every time!
